AI Edit (Inpainting)
Use AI to edit specific regions of an image by painting a mask and describing the desired change.
How It Works
1. Select the AI Edit tool
Choose the AI Edit (inpainting) tool from the editor toolbar.
2. Paint the mask
Brush over the area you want to change. The painted region turns into a mask that tells the AI which part to regenerate.
3. Describe the change
Write a text prompt describing what should appear in the masked region. For example:
A green plant in a ceramic pot
4. Generate
Click Generate to run the inpainting model. The AI will replace the masked area with content matching your description while keeping the rest of the image intact.
Inpainting Use Cases
- Background replacement — Mask the background and describe a new setting
- Object removal — Mask an unwanted element and describe the background that should fill in
- Object addition — Mask an empty area and describe what should appear there
- Color changes — Mask a product and describe a different color variant
- Detail refinement — Mask a small area and describe the correction
Tips
- Use the crop tool to reframe images for different platforms without regenerating
- For AI Edit, paint a slightly larger mask than the exact area you want to change — this gives the AI better context for blending
- Describe the surrounding context in your inpainting prompt for more natural results
- After editing, the modified image replaces the original on the node — you can undo with
